10 Things to Do With Your Dog This Halloween in the Charlotte Area

Halloween! No matter what age you are, Halloween is an exciting time! While you may be too old to go trick and treating by yourself, there are a bunch of fun things you can still do, besides going to fancy Halloween parties. How about you spend some time with your doggie this Halloween? If you live in or around the Charlotte area, there are several crazy things things to do with your dog this Halloween, which can be equally fun for you and your dog.

1. Halloween Pet Costume Party

Halloween pet costume parties are all the rage! There are usually several happening in every area, so it’s very unlikely that you won’t be able to find one to attend. However, if you can’t find one in the Charlotte area, there’s no need to worry; just do your own thing! Invite everybody and tell them to dress up their dogs and bring them over. You can even have a competition for the best-dressed dog at your party.

Make sure to check out Little Friends Pet Sitting and Dog Walking’s sponsored pet costume contest on Facebook and Instagram too. You can submit a picture of your pet in their costume via a PM, DM, or email latest by October 15th along with the pet’s name and your email address. We will post your dolled up pet’s photo on Facebook and Instagram from October 16th to October 31st, asking users to vote for their favorite picture.  The winner will be announced on Facebook and Instagram on November 1st and will win $100 worth of visits with Little Friends Pet Sitting and Dog Walking.

2. Halloween Parties

You can do your own version of Halloween party too, where everybody, from people to puppies, can dress up and have fun! You can have a photo booth too, and get crazy pictures taken with your Halloween costume buddy. It’s an exciting October line up in Charlotte area. There’s a Halloween Party at Waverly on October 26th that you won’t want to miss! A Howl-O-Ween party is also happening at Lucky Dog Bark and Brew and another at Birdsong Brewing Co.

3. Pug-O-Ween

Despite what the name suggests, this kind of Halloween party does not discriminate on the basis of dog breeds! All are welcome! Pug-O-Ween parties have been routinely taking place for the last few years. The 2nd Annual Pug-O-Ween happened at Lucky Dog Bark & Brew in 2018. If the 3rd Edition is happening this year, you should go along with your dog.

4. Canine Halloween Hiking

Gather up a bunch of your friends, dress up, and go on a hike along a dark trail with your doggies. Run, play, and have fun along the way. At the end of the hike, your party can sit around a campfire and have some food before heading back home. Make sure to pack up food and treats for your canine hiking partners too!

5. Take Your Puppy Out Trick Or Treating

Are you kids going out trick-or-treating and need company? Dress up your doggie in a really cute and scary costume, along with your children, and send them out to collect candies together. People will surely love the idea of a trick-or-treating dog-and-child duo!

6. Treasure Hunt

You can organize a treasure hunt with your friends this Halloween; humans and canines alike. Everybody can partner up with their dog and sniff out the treasure. The best team bags the first prize!

7. Halloween Dog March

Everybody can gather around, dress up, and march down the streets in spooky costumes with their dogs. The more, the merrier here, so invite everyone you know.

8. Fundraising at the Dog Shelter

If throwing parties and trick or treating isn’t your thing, then you can spend the day at the dog shelter with the dogs that don’t have a home. You can even dress them up and encourage people to come to adopt one of the adorable dogs in there.

9. Halloween Playdates

You and a group of friends can all dress up your dogs and take them to a dog park and let your dogs play as much as they want while the rest of you mingle and socialize.

10. Bake a Pumpkin Pie

How about staying home with your dog for a nice, quiet night? Bake a pumpkin pie, put on a scary movie, and cuddle in bed with your fluffy little friend.

Those were just some of the great ideas that you can use to make this Halloween a fun one for you and your dog. Whatever you decide to do, make sure that you have enough treats and snacks for all your guests – canines and humans alike!

However, if you are planning to attend a Halloween party and need to leave your precious pets at home, hire a reliable pet sitter from Little Friends Pet Sitting and Dog Walking to come over and make sure that your pet gets some special attention while you are out.  Also, make sure your dog gets a long walk prior to you having to leave, so he is ready for a relaxing evening at home while you are partying with other Halloween party lovers. If you don’t have the chance to walk Fido before you leave because you have to perfect your costume at the last minute, then hire one of our dog walkers to walk Spot earlier in the day to make sure he is ready for that ‘evening at home.’
